The Erotic Mummification
of Russell
exploration in sensory
deprivation and sensory modification
Russell, a exquisite submissive, offered
himself up to a group of 25 or so persons, each of diverse
and varying persuasions, so that we all might learn the art
of Erotic Mummification.
As we moved to take our seats, our
eyes consumed the supplies laid out for display on the stage
table. Blindfold, clamps, blanket, tape, weights, cock ring,
special bandage:vet wrap, lots of plastic wrap, in colors.and
towels. The smiles and the excited whispers let each other
know we were all eager to see and learn what the day's demonstration
held for us.
Jeff, the founder of HEEL (Houston
Encourages and Educates in Leather) and the M.C. for the meeting,
introduced to us Trish, the moderator of today's demonstration.
Trish, a member of HPEP(Houston People
Exchanging Power) and The Bound Collective, as well as being
a well known figure in the local scene, introduced us to Chris,
a gentleman with great experience in erotic mummification,
giving and receiving, and to Russell, a member of NLA and
our "mummy" for the day.
To start the lesson, Trish, Chris and
Jeff gave us numerous safety tips:
Be Safe: Know your partner, know their
history, medical and emotional. Can they handle confined spaces,
or lack of movement. How is their breathing, or their stamina.
Don't Impede Breathing: Make sure the
mouth and nose area is not covered.
Watch Body Temperature: The wrapping
increases body temperature, just as a sauna does
Stability: Wrapping from the top down,
when starting from the feet up, the ability to balance becomes
difficult.
Lung Capacity: Have the subject fill
their lungs with air when you wrap the chest, that way they
have a comfort zone.
Removing from wrapping: Remember the
body temperature has been elevated while wrapped, and even
room temperature is going to be cold, have a blanket to wrap
the subject in to allow them to adjust back to normal.
After covering these safety tips, Trish
pointed out that erotic mummification plays with the most
potent sex organ, the mind. The subject in most cases sinks
deep into their mind, becoming embryonic, encased in the womb
of their mind, safe, protected, warm and at peace. They reach
a meditative spot.
Chris began wrapping Russell with plastic
wrap, as Trish let the audience know that this was negotiated
in advance, along with some specific "play" between
Trish and Russell for the purpose of the demonstration.
The wrapping material used this day
was plastic wrap, such as Glad Wrap "or Saran Wrap ".
Chris let us know we could by larger rolls at resturant supply
stores or discount grocerers.
Jeff pointed out that there are other
materials that are available and your only limits where the
safety issues and your imagination. His suggestions included;
white sheets, colored plastic wrap, lycra, spandex or even
Bubblewrap (everyone loves to pop the bubbles).
Chris began wrapping Russell, and he
explained that you can do a wrapping quickly, as he was doing,
or a bit slower to present a more aesthetic presentation.
Chris said he preferred quickly to make sure the subject is
secure and safe. While this was going on, Trish had inserted
a towel between Russell's knees and ankles, to provide a level
of comfort and to take away some pressure points. Trish said
that you can wrap the hands as Chris had done, or use latex
gloves so that each finger is separate.
Russell was standing while being wrapped,
agreeably, not the most stable of positions. Trish commented
that while most subjects are wrapped standing then lain down,
today for the purpose of the demo, they would secure Russell
in an upright position. To do this, there was a large cage
prop on the stage, they secured Russell to the cage with more
plastic wrap, so he would not topple over.
To enhance the lack of sensation, suggestions
of blindfolds, ear plugs or ear phones with music, and special
scents, each item chosen to deepen the feeling of being removed
from the reality around you.
Trish demonstrated a safe way to remove
the wrap from areas of the body for erotic stimulation; pieces
of crumpled tape had been placed over Russell's nipples, making
it easier for Trish; with a pair of medical scissors, to cut
the wrap away, exposing the nipples to air.
Adding a special Wrap to Russell's
head was Trish's next step. She used a product called Vet
Wrap, a sticky thick gauze type material available in most
tack stores and Vet supply's, this is the material most commonly
used to wrap the fetlocks of horses. Trish used this material
to wrap Russell's head, leaving mouth, nose and eyes exposed.
As Trish wrapped Russell's head, she
explained that since some cock and ball torture had been negotiated,
the groin area had been purposefully left exposed, but in
the same frame of mind, it could have been left covered and
exposed with the wrap being cut away with the scissors as
was the nipple area done.
At this point, an intermission was
called, giving Trish and Russell a bit of privacy for the
remainder of their negotiated scene, and some time for direct
caring and communication between them.
When returning from the intermission
and taking our seats, we all noticed the special glow eminating
from Russell. Trish began at this time removing him from the
wrap, again using the medical scissors, the flat side perfect
against the skin as you cut through the plastic wrap.
When Russell emerged from the wrap,
his eyes glowed and sparkled, he seemed very much at peace.
Trish nutured and helped him back from sub space. Russell
positively glowed from the experience. He spoke briefly of
his first experience with wrapping when younger and how this
would always be an erotic experience for him.
This reporter got the sense it was
like a cleansing.. a coming out.. a rebirth. I liken it alot
to the butterfly emerging from a cocoon. I could see myself..
after all the changing i am trying to do..
being wrapped.. tight with all this
"stuff".. represented by the saran wrap and i shed
or deal with or integrate it till it is gone..
then the wrapping is cut away.. and
i am new.. whole..
All who watched thank Trish, Chris,
Russell and Jeff for their expertise, time and the sharing
of such a moving and beautiful experience. And from all the
overheard comments that afternoon, many of those in attendance
now wish to experience Erotic Mummification.

MUMMIFICATION PRIMER
By Rob Cole
as extractrd from LeatherNews
Mummification - completely wrapping or encasing the body
in any of several materials - is among those activities generally
known as "edge play." It is one of the most intense
forms of bondage, producing a state of total helplessness
which literally puts the bottom's life in the hands of the
top.
Paradoxically, for those who enjoy bondage, it can also be
an intensely pleasurable activity, creating sensations of
floating in a kind of dreamland in which time and space seem
suspended. Some bottoms may have "out-of-body experiences"
in which they may find themselves seemingly floating above
and looking down on their bodies. A good subject who is really
"into it" can be left mummified for several hours,
and may even protest being released. On the other hand, mummification
can be sheer hell, as well as extremely dangerous, for anyone
inclined to claustrophobia or with any kind of cardiac or
breathing problem, leading to uncontrollable panic which can
produce heart attacks or long-lasting emotional trauma.
Mummification is often called a bottom trip, because of the
disproportionately heavy demands it places on the top. For
safety, the top should never be out of sight of the subject
for more than a few minutes at a time, which can obviously
be boring for the top in an hours-long mummification. But
various forms of light to heavy stimulation can be used for
the top's entertainment, and the bottom's genitals and nipples
are usually left exposed for this purpose. Light stimulation
is, of course, the most rewarding for the bottom. The top
should keep in mind, whatever his inclinations, that the bottom's
restricted sensory input and helplessness will combine to
magnify everything he is made to feel, and heavy stimulation
can push even a good subject into panic.
One of the most common materials used for mummification is
ordinary Saran wrap reinforced with cloth tape, such as duct
tape. Both can be obtained in several colors. Other things
that can be used include Ace bandages, thin latex strips,
and even gauze and plaster of paris. The latter, of course,
produces a hard shell which can be laborious to remove and
is particularly chancy in the event of panic attacks or breathing
problems.
All these materials trap body heat and can cause severe dehydration.
Mummification should not be done in a hot room - 80 degrees
or more - or in direct sunlight. A fan can be used to help
keep body heat down but will be limited in its effectiveness
when a non-porous material such as Saran wrap is used. Overly
tight wrappings can restrict breathing and circulation. When
the chest is wrapped, it's a good idea to ask the bottom to
breathe deeply and/or push out his chest. The throat should
not be tightly wrapped, and if the Saran wrap/duct tape combination
is used, the tape should not be applied tightly around the
chest area or around the throat. Either the nose or mouth
obviously must be left uncovered and if the mouth is covered
or a gag is used, the top should make sure the bottom has
no problem breathing through the nose. It's best to lay the
mummified bottom in a horizontal position on his back, since
any other position can aggravate breathing or circulation
problems. A pillow or folded towel should be placed under
the back of the head, especially if the subject is at all
round-shouldered, to keep the throat from being constricted.
The mummified bottom should be placed on a padded surface
unless the top wants him to experience the additional discomfort
of lying on a hard surface.
Even with all these precautions, the top should check the
bottom's chest frequently for normal breathing, the hands
and feet periodically for cyanosis (blueness) or excessive
coldness, which can occur even when the subject is overheated,
and the heartbeat for any obvious irregularities.
Even a non-doctor can detect things such as heavy pounding,
speeding and slowing, or a very rapid thready fluttering,
which could indicate a life-threatening condition called arrhythmia.
If a problem does occur, the top should be prepared to remove
part or all of the wrapping immediately. When Saran wrap,
latex or bandages are used, it's a good idea to obtain and
have handy a pair of surgical scissors, the kind with the
tip of one of the blades blunted so it can be inserted under
the wrapping with less hazard of cutting the skin. If the
bottom is panicking, it's generally best to stroke his body
lightly and speak to him soothingly - talk him down - until
he calms somewhat, before releasing him. Otherwise his struggles
can impede the top's attempts to remove the wrappings and
he may injure himself or the top. Whether the bottom is being
released because of a problem or at the scheduled end of a
mummification session, a responsible top will sit with the
bottom, embrace or hold him, and talk to him calmly and gently
as long as needed to ease his transition "back to the
world."
Mummification is best done by two tops or a top and a helper,
starting out with the subject standing. His hands can initially
be secured overhis head, or he can be ordered to hold his
arms tightly against hissides. The arms and legs, and even
the fingers and toes, can be wrappedseparately to heighten
the bottom's sense of isolation and separation from his surroundings.
A more common approach is to wrap the armsagainst the body
and the legs together, with folded towels or otherstrips of
cloth between the legs and between the arms and the body.
Thistechnique has the advantage of absorbing some of the sweat
that will be trapped between the wrappings and the bottom's
skin. A folded cloth or blindfold should be placed over the
eyes.
A good technique is to start Saran wrap over the lower belly,
proceedingupward to the neck, with the second top or helper
assisting in winding the roll of plastic around the body and
helping to steady the bottom onhis feet. Since the plastic
will adhere to itself, placing the reinforcing tape can be
deferred until most of the area is covered. Theplastic strip
can be twisted 180 degrees periodically to help keep it flat
against the body, and/or cut such as to cover the shoulders.
With the upper body covered, the neck can be wrapped loosely,
again making sure the bottom's breathing is not restricted,
and strips of plastic cutto form a cap or hood over the head
and around the chin, then secured with tape. The reinforcing
tape should not be allowed to touch the skinunless the top
wants the bottom to experience the discomfort of removing
it later - which can obviously be considerable if body hair
is involved.
During all the preceding, the bottom can be allowed to keep
his feet far enough apart to keep his balance, although he
may become disoriented even so. But he must now be made to
bring his feet closely together, holding the towel between
his legs if one is used. The Saran wrap is then wound from
the lower abdomen down to the feet and secured withtape, with
the helper steadying the bottom on his feet. The top and thehelper
then tilt the bottom's body back and lower him to whatever
horizontal surface has been prepared. The feet can then be
wrapped and taped, or left uncovered to help vent and cool
the bottom's body. Of course, uncovered feet and toes are
also available for stimulation.
At this point, the genitals and nipples can be uncovered
by carefully cutting holes in the wrapping, which might or
might not then be outlinedor edged with tape.
Although I've attempted to cover enough of the mummification
process and its hazards to allow an inexperienced top to do
it safely, it's still agood idea not to try it for the first
time without expert supervisionand guidance.
