My Adventures at Thunder in the Mountains - Denver July 2001

i just got home from beautiful Denver, Colorado where i attended Thunder in the Mountains with Sir and chocolat. What an experience! Not only is Denver a beautiful town, but the people there are warm and friendly. i couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Wonderful people crossed Oour paths, from Oour waitress Lisa at the hotel and Oour 100% Lesbian Love waitress Olivia at Denny's, to Patrick Califia-Rice and Midori at the event itself. i met so many wonderful new friends, Leenie the whip whisperer, Chris with his purple lace socks, slutmaggie (woof!), julia (aka buffy), huck, kip, and many, many more.

Wwe had a wonderful drive to Colorado, i drove first, then Sir and chocolat finished up the last leg of Oour journey. It was a long drive, but not really as grueling as i had imagined an 18 hour drive would be. i was very achey after the trip, but Sir got me a professional massage and hot tub time which helped tremendously. Wwe had a day and a half to catch on up sleep and see a little bit of Denver. In fact, by the time Wwe actually went to registration, Wwe all felt like Wwe'd had a wonderful trip already and classes hadn't even started!!!! Wwe were given Oour packets and shirts and id badges and the excitement mounted.

Wwe went to the vendor room and Sir bought a lock for the collar He had given me. i was so excited to have a lock on the chain i wear around my neck. It's such an important symbol to me, it makes me feel safe. i bought a copy of The Ethical Slut and so did Sir, along with Different Loving, which i can't wait to read. There were all kinds of different toys to see, new ones and new versions of old favorites.

That night was a meet and greet and the first of two dungeon parties. chocolat and i dressed in black pvc outfits and the three of Uus made several stunning entrances. Unfortunately, somewhere during all of this i had misplaced my id badge. Wwe didn't let it turn into too huge a crisis. DaddyPegasus and CJ were very helpful in creating a badge i could use until the real one turned up, which it eventually did. The dungeon party was wonderful. Oour scenes were great and it was so interesting to see all the other players. "We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto." Midori had a boy tied by his head between two bars. The best way i can explain it is that it resembled a scene from Hellraiser. There was a whip scene between two men that was wonderful.

My favorite scene from that night was between a woman who i later learned was Leenie and a girl sonja.
Usually single tail scenes don't interest me much, mostly because the noise is so bothersome. This one was different. Leenie was so graceful with that whip, it looked like she was dancing. i was mesmerized. After Oour scenes, Wwe walked around a little bit and called it a night. Wwe all wanted to be fresh and vibrant for Oour full day ahead.

Saturday's classes started with Mark Frasier's Breath Play class. First of all, i don't look at men in a sexual way too much. i already belong to the most handsome Master in the world, why do i need to look around? Mark is a hunk, though, so when He asked for volunteers, i was the first one up. It wasn't difficult, Wwe got to all of Oour classes early in order to get front row seats. i really wanted to have an experience with a gas mask. It has always intrigued me, and now that i have had a taste of it, i want more!!! Mark put the mask over my face and knelt behind me supporting my body. Then He put His hand over the breathing tube and after a short time the air was gone. It was thrilling. i wanted Him to stop, to breathe, but i hoped that He wouldn't. Sir said that He could see me giving Mark all of my "no" signals. i felt confident that i would be okay and i was allowed air again. i highly recommend breath play, but please educate Yourself first. It's important to be CPR trained and to know where and how to restrict air or blood flow. It's okay to try it at home, kids, but make sure everyone involved is educated and aware of the risks.

Next up was Midori's Fear and Edge Play class. She is a wonderful speaker and really knows how to keep an audience entertained as well as being able to bring Her points across. i helped by illustrating a little bit of humiliation play. i volunteered and was brought to the front of the room while she talked about how everyone was looking at me. At one point, a VERY hot woman named Nikki strode to the front of the room, looked me up and down, and said, "Be afraid, be very afraid," and strode back. It was great. Midori also used a circular saw and a snake to illustrate how fear can be used in scene. The room was thick with tension and at the end a story was told to Uus so vividly that Wwe all had to come down afterwards when class was over.

Also in this class was the whip woman (Leenie) from the previous night. i pointed her out to Sir, who told me that i should compliment her on her scene as i had liked it so much. i was shy about it, but i went and knelt and waited for Her to acknowledge me. i am so glad that i did that, because Wwe all made a really good friend from that ice breaking. i told Her that Her scene was mesmerizing and beautiful. i can still picture her gliding around sonja with that whip trailing behind Her.

Then Wwe went to a wonderful class with Dossie Eason about scening and Jungian psychology. This is the kind of class that i could spend all day in. The mix of spirituality, D/s and pain play is intriguing to me. i soak up classes of this nature like a sponge and i wish there was more exploration of this kind in my local community. Wwe discussed the levels of consciousness and how they affect play. Archetypes were touched on, though i wish more time could have been devoted to that area.

At this point i was exhausted and cranky. i had to get some rest or just some quiet time or i wouldn't be able to finish the evening.

That night at the dungeon was even more incredible than the last. i saw a sissymaid in a pink frilly outfit that i wanted to steal right off of him. There was also a she/man (?) dressed in a red, black and white pvc riding outfit. It was really, really sexy. i saw another bondage scene reminiscent of Hellraiser. i'd seen mummification with saran wrap at home, but here they did the whole plaster deal. It was wild! i saw a girl in bondage suspended from the ceiling. i saw another sexy woman with a single tail playing across the way from Uus and it turned out to be Leenie again. i got to see Patrick Califia doing a fisting with slutmaggive (lucky slut!). i could probably go on and on. On Friday Wwe had a sneak preview of the dungeon and i had seen that there were two inversion tables. Linda Cox graciously helped Sir put me in one this evening and i was turned upside down. It felt so good on my back. Everything just pulled and stretched and i didn't feel compacted and hurting after that.

Eventually Wwe had to go back to the room and get some rest for the next day's festivities. First class of the morning was Patrick Califia-Rice doing vaginal and anal fisting. i've done vaginal fisting before, it's a lot of fun. The babe she fisted, cynthia i believe, was really hot and it was neat to see her fisted. As usual Wwe were on the front row. The anal fisting intrigued me as i have had no experience in that area other than reading about it or hearing tales from my male friends. It was awesome watching his fist disappear into that guy's ass. i was amazed and more than a little curious about trying this one at home.

The next class was with Midori again and this time it was on Humiliation. slutmaggie was her victim and Midori did a wonderful job illustrating how much of a turn on it can be for both parties. maggie was told she was a dog in heat and had to crawl on all fours while Wwe all barked and woofed at her. Midori asked for a volunteer to sniff the dog's butt, because after all, that's what doggies do, right? i waited a couple of seconds for someone to go to the front, but when none did i crawled up to maggie and sniffed her like a good doggie. i wanted to mount her and as soon as i was thinking it, Midori was saying it and i gladly complied. slutmaggie moaned and that only served to spur me on more. It was really hot. i hope slutmaggie reads this and contacts me. i had such a good time with her and i would love to keep in touch. i didn't get a chance to swap emails with her.

After Midori's class is was time to visit Dossie Eason again. She lectured from her book, The Ethical Slut. i had never heard of her book before this event, but i think i will be recommending it to many of my friends. The Ethical Slut talks about having successful relatioinships, whether they be vanilla, D/s, poly, or monogamous. There is a focus on the poly side of things, though. She stresses the importance of communication, self worth and knowing exactly what you want to get out of your relationships. i left her class feeling good about myself and the progress i had made in those areas. It spawned some good conversations between Sir and myself while waiting for the next class.

The last class of the day was a panel discussion about 24/7 lifestyle and roleplaying. i've always had a rather pragmatic view about 24/7. In my opinion, a Master simply cannot be a Master all the time, the same as i can't be a submissive all the time. Life happens to Uus all, and sometimes we all need to be held and loved and comforted whether a Top or a bottom. Tops enjoy being silly and laughing and having fun the same as other people do. i would feel pretty uncomfortable if my D/s relationship was so formal that my Master and i couldn't laugh at a funny show together or tease each other about Oour idiosynchracies. There is a time and a place for all things and when you're with someone all the time, all parties need to feel comfortable being themselves during downtimes.

And that was the last class at Thunder in the Mountains. What an experience. That evening Wwe were invited to an informal gathering with some of the authors and presenters. It was a nice way to wind down and process a wonderful event, as well as see some people i looked up to just hanging out and being normal people.

i can't express how wonderful this whole event made me feel about myself, my submission, and my Master. He received so many well deserved compliments it made my heart burst with pride. i love it when He is appreciated and His wisdom and intelligence are recognized. It's more important to me that He be noticed and recognized than it is for me. i want to always reflect positively on Him and i hope that i had the chance to do that at this venue.

It was a great trip home, filled with laughs and fond memories. chocolat and i were trying to decide where to go next and how to raise the money to get there. Wwe may not be able to go to another out of state event for some time, but after this trip Wwe know Wwe can do it and have fun and be successful. Thank You Sir for making this possible, and to you as well, chocolat for everything you did to help out during this journey. It was truly a pleasure.
