Americans for Truth, a group opposed to homosexual
activism, condemned "gay" establishments today for
promoting a "sadomasochistic" sex celebration that
will bring over 1,200 sadism advocates, including practitioners
of consensual "slavery," to the nation's capital.
Americans for Truth President Peter LaBarbera
said the "Leather Weekend 2000" event, which began
Friday and ends Sunday, highlights the prevalence of deviance
in the homosexual subculture.
"Gay activists smear their opponents by
calling them 'extremists,' yet 'mainstream' homosexual institutions
routinely support events like this that promote sexual violence
and human degradation. It's time for gay activists to stop
promoting sadism and to stop hiding behind the excuse that
these perversions are OK because they're 'consensual.'"
The "Mid Atlantic Leather Contest"
(part of "Leather Weekend") begins today at the
Washington Plaza Hotel at 10 Thomas Circle N.W., in the District.
There will be an exhibit room at the hotel featuring such
sadistic-oriented vendors as Lashes by Sally and House of
Whacks, according to a web site for the event (see www.dcpride.org/CentaurMC/).
Four D.C. hotels were not enough to accommodate the "leathermen,"
who are coming from across the United States and overseas.
"The media should investigate this event
for themselves so that can have some perspective the next
time a gay activist calls a pro-family group 'extremist,'"
LaBarbera said. "It doesn't get much more extreme than
this."
"If homosexuality truly were normal, you
would not see supposedly 'mainstream' gay institutions like
the Washington Blade and Lambda Rising bookstore celebrating
violent and degrading sadistic sex," LaBarbera said.
"Homosexuals, who rightly crusade against violent 'gay
bashing,' should be the last people to promote sexual violence
and consensual cruelty of the sort being celebrated this weekend."
One facet of the bizarre "leather"
world is consensual "slavery" -- in which one man
agrees to be the virtual "slave" of his "master."
At various homosexual and sadistic events, "masters"
have been seen leading around their "slaves" using
a neck collar and leash -- as if walking a dog. The "slave"
is the sexual servant of his "master," who also
controls other aspects of the slave's life just as whites
controlled blacks in the days of American slavery. S/M stores
like the Leather Rack on Connecticut Avenue sell various implements
of "restraint" for sadomasochistic "play"
-- such as hoods designed for people who get sexually excited
by being asphyxiated.
The media have refrained from covering the "leather"
world and its connection to homosexuality. On September 26,
a 13-year-old Arkansas boy, Jesse Dirkhising, died from asphyxiation
after being bound and gagged by two homosexual men in what
appeared to be a sadistic episode gone bad. Two homosexual
activist groups, the Human Rights Campaign and the National
Gay and Lesbian Task Force, recently sponsored a sadistic
sex festival in San Francisco on the same day that Dirkhising
died.
The "Mid Atlantic Leather Contest"
is part of "Leather Weekend 2000" in Washington,
D.C. On Saturday night, there will be a "Dungeon Dance"
held at a homosexual bar in Southeast D.C. called The Edge.
A full-page ad in the Washington Blade, D.C.'s homosexual
newspaper, promoted the event. A similar "Dungeon Dance"
held at The Edge in 1998, attended undercover by LaBarbera,
featured homosexual and heterosexual "leather" couples
whipping each other on large wooden crosses as a crowd looked
on. In two dark corners of the bar, anonymous sexual activity
occurred in near complete darkness.
The city's homosexual bookstore, Lambda Rising,
is promoting the sadistic celebration, and "leather pride"
flags (the S/M equivalent of "gay pride" rainbow
flags) can be seen flying in the Dupont Circle area, home
to D.C.'s homosexual community. Among the vendors at the leather
contest is Water Boys, a group for "gay" men who
support "sexual" acts that are too grotesque to
print in a family newspaper.
"Last week, it was reported that the Gay
and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is pressuring Paramount
Television to 'require' that Dr. Laura Schlessinger stop using
words like 'deviance' to describe homosexual conduct on her
TV show," LaBarbera said. "Dr. Laura and Paramount
should not succumb to the gay Thought Police. As this weekend's
activities show, deviance is alive and well in the homosexual
subculture."
